Sweden Trade Deficit Widens In November

(RTTNews) - Sweden's foreign trade deficit increased notably in November from a year ago, as imports grew faster than exports, preliminary figures from Statistics Sweden showed Tuesday.

The trade deficit widened to SEK 5.2 billion in November from SEK 0.5 billion in the corresponding month last year. In October, the shortfall was SEK 1.7 billion.

The value of exports climbed 5.0 percent year-over-year in November and imports surged by 10.0 percent.

Exports fell to SEK 99.9 billion in November from SEK 103.3 billion in October. Meanwhile, imports rose slightly to SEK 105.1 billion from SEK 105.0 billion.

Trade with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of SEK 11.3 billion in November, while the EU trade showed deficit of SEK 16.5 billion.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the net trade deficit for November was SEK 1.7 billion versus SEK 1.1 billion in October.
