Norway's Inflation Slows In February
(RTTNews) - Norway's annual inflation slowed in February largely reflecting lower price increases in furniture and fuel prices, Statistics Norway reported Monday.
Inflation fell to 2.1 percent in February from 2.3 percent in January. The rate matched economists' expectations. Consumer prices gained 0.5 percent from January mainly due to higher airline fares and food prices.
At the same time, core inflation held steady at 2.4 percent in February. On a monthly basis, core inflation was 0.6 percent.
EU harmonized inflation slowed to 1.9 percent from 2.1 percent a month ago. At the same time, inflation in euro area was stable at 0.8 percent.
Higher airfares together with increased prices of food and furniture contributed most to the rise, while lower prices on books pulled inflation in the opposite direction.
The harmonized index of consumer prices for Norway rose by 0.5 percent from January.
Another report from the statistical office showed that producer price inflation fell to 4 percent in February from 5.3 percent in January. Producer prices fell 0.7 percent on a monthly basis.
