New Zealand Food Prices Rise 1.2% In January
(RTTNews) - Food prices in New Zealand were up 1.2 percent on month in January, Statistics New Zealand said on Friday.
That follows the 0.1 percent contraction in December.
The seasonal rise in fruit and vegetable prices (up 4.4 percent) was influenced by rises in both fruit (up 7.4 percent) and vegetables (up 1.8 percent). The main upward contributions came from apples, strawberries, kiwifruit, and mandarins, the bureau said.
On a yearly basis, food prices added 0.9 percent after climbing 1.5 percent in the previous month.
