Malaysia Producer Prices Rise 0.5% In December

(RTTNews) - Malaysia's producer prices increased for the first time in four months in December, figures from the Department of Statistics showed on Tuesday.

Producer prices climbed 0.5 percent year-on-year in December, reversing a 0.4 percent drop in November.

Among sectors, the price index for agriculture, forestry, and fishing grew the most by 23.8 percent from last year. Prices for electricity and gas supply rose at a stable rate of 0.9 percent, while the fall in mining prices softened to 7.0 percent from 8.3 percent.

The price index for manufacturing showed a fall of 1.0 percent, though slower than the 1.8 percent decline a month ago.

On a month-on-month basis, producer prices moved up 0.8 percent in December, following a 1.4 percent gain in November.

During the year 2024, producer prices were 0.3 percent higher compared to a 1.9 percent decrease in 2023.
