Italian Industrial Orders Recover Strongly
(RTTNews) - Italy's industrial orders recovered strongly at the start of the year on robust foreign demand, data from the statistical office Istat showed Friday.
Industrial orders expanded 4.8 percent from December driven by a 3.8 percent rise in domestic orders and 6.4 percent increase in foreign demand. The increase in January offset the 4.8 percent fall reported in December.
On a yearly basis, industrial orders grew by 2.6 percent in January, following a 1.9 percent rise in December. This was the fifth consecutive rise in orders.
At the same time, industrial turnover increased 1.2 percent in January from December. Turnover in domestic market climbed 0.7 percent and non-domestic market turnover advanced 2.4 percent. Year-on-year, industrial turnover grew 3 percent in January.
