Hong Kong Jobless Rate Steady At 3.1%

(RTTNews) - Hong Kong's unemployment rate held steady in the October-December period, labor force statistics from the Census and Statistics Department showed on Monday.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate came in at 3.1 percent in October to December, the same as in the September-November period.

The data showed that the underemployment rate remained stable at 1.1 percent.

Without adjustment, the unemployment rate dropped to 3.0 percent from 3.1 percent. The number of unemployed persons was 113,600, compared to 119,700 in the September-November period.

"The labor market should remain largely stable in the near term, though the employment situation in some sectors might be more affected by the increased uncertainties in the global environment," Chris Sun, the secretary for labor and welfare, said.
