GRUPO TELECOM: Net Income Rose 109.5% In 1H17, To $ 3,639 Million
(RTTNews) - Argentina's Grupo Telecom net profit more than doubled in the second quarter compared to a year before, to 1.673 billion pesos (US$ 94 million), with results boosted by higher revenues and lower operating costs.
The second-quarter revenue rose 22.2% from a year earlier, to 15.841 billion pesos, while operating expenses rose more slowly, to 12.883 billion pesos, a 14.6% increase.
In the first half of 2017, Grupo Telecom lost 2.5% of its mobile subscribers in the personal segment from the same period in 2016, but the revenue increased 16.4%, to 19.9 billion pesos. The average monthly revenue per user ('ARPU') amounted to $135.3 during the first half, up 27.5% from a year before.
Revenues generated by the Fixed Services division in the first half of the year totaled 9.331 billion pesos, a 33.5% rise. Voice revenues increased by 44.5%, mainly influenced by higher prices, while Internet revenues grew 29.3%. Data revenues were up by 20.3%.
