Czech Trade Surplus Shrinks In August
(RTTNews) - Czech foreign trade surplus decreased in August from a year ago, as imports grew faster than exports, figures from the Czech Statistical Office showed Friday.
The trade surplus in the national concept fell to CZK 5.9 billion in August from CZK 7.3 billion in the corresponding month last year. Economists had expected a surplus of CZK 5.0 billion for the month.
In July, the trade balance showed a deficit of CZK 2.5 billion.
Exports rose 4.0 percent year-over-year in August and imports climbed by 4.7 percent.
On a monthly basis, the seasonally adjusted exports and imports advanced by 12.7 percent and 4.5 percent, respectively in August.
