Czech Current Account Surplus Rises Sharply In Q1

(RTTNews) - The Czech current account surplus grew markedly in the three months ended March, data from the Czech National Bank showed Tuesday.

The current account surplus climbed to CZK 113.8 billion in the first quarter from CZK 14.6 billion in the previous three-month period.

The goods and services trade surplus rose to CZK 110.3 billion in the March quarter from CZK 56.3 billion in the preceding quarter

The primary income deficit narrowed notably to CZK 3.3 billion from CZK 31.3 billion in the December quarter. At the same time, the secondary income balance turned to a surplus of CZK 6.7 billion from a deficit of CZK 10.4 billion.

The capital account surplus came in at CZK 18.4 billion in the March quarter, up from CZK 14.8 billion in the previous quarter. The financial account surplus surged to CZK 109 billion from CZK 42.2 billion.
