AEGON N.V. -- Moody's changes outlook on Aegon N.V. (A3 senior debt) to negative

London, 14 April 2016 -- Moody's Investors Service has today affirmed Aegon N.V.'s A3 issuer and senior debt ratings and Baa1(hyb) subordinate / junior subordinate debt ratings, and changed the outlook to negative from stable. Moody's took a similar rating action on associated companies guaranteed by Aegon N.V. (Aegon Funding Company LLC, Commonwealth General Corporation). The rating action follows Aegon's announcement that it will sell two thirds of its UK annuity portfolio to Rothesay Life (unrated). Aegon will first reinsure the annuity book to Rothesay Life, before assets and liabilities are fully transferred to the buyer.
