Young Broadcasting Inc. and Spartan TV, LLC Announce Joint Operations Agreement between WLNS-TV and WHTV-TV for Lansing Market; New Partnership is First of its Kind for Young Broadcasting

Young Broadcasting Inc. ("YBI" or the "Company")(NASDAQ:YBTVA) today announced that its Lansing, Michigan stationWLNS-TV (a CBS affiliate) has reached a three-year Joint Sales andShared Services agreement with Spartan TV, LLC's WHTV-TV (a UPNaffiliate licensed to Jackson/Lansing, Michigan). The agreement whichgoes into effect on January 26th 2006, covers all advertising sales,traffic and engineering functions including operation of mastercontrol for WHTV-TV. The announcement was jointly made today byVincent Young, Chairman of YBI and Paul Koplin, President of SpartanTV.

Said Mr. Young, "This agreement, the first of its kind for ourbroadcast group, provides WLNS with a nice complement to our existingsports packages including National Football League games and MichiganState football and basketball. WHTV, which attracts a younger,male-dominated audience, gives our local sales team the opportunity tosell advertisers a demographic that is complimentary to ours."

Mr. Koplin, who also serves on the UPN Board of Governors added,"Because UPN and CBS are now owned by VIACOM/CBS it only makes sensethat we take full advantage of the network synergies."

Spartan TV, LLC will maintain ownership of WHTV-TV and willcontinue to handle all programming for the station. The station'svaried programming includes the UPN prime-time line-up, suchsyndicated shows as "People's Court, Friends" and "Malcolm In TheMiddle," and professional sports -- Detroit Pistons NationalBasketball Association (NBA) games and Detroit Red Wings NationalHockey League (NHL) games.
