WellCare Names John C. Richter Vice President and Chief Litigation Counsel

WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG) announced that John C. Richter has joined the Company as vice president and chief litigation counsel. Mr. Richter formerly served as the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma and as Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. In these capacities, Mr. Richter led comprehensive efforts at the national and local level to combat corporate, securities, and health care fraud.

"He is a respected lawyer and former public servant. John brings knowledge, expertise and perspective that will make him a valuable asset to our company and our legal team.”

Mr. Richter brings to WellCare more than 23 years of public and private sector experience. Before his appointments to senior positions in the Justice Department, Mr. Richter served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Georgia and Oklahoma, where he investigated and prosecuted white collar and public corruption cases. He also served previously as an Assistant District Attorney in Georgia. Before entering public service, Mr. Richter practiced privately at King & Spalding LLP, where he represented individual and institutional clients in securities and other commercial matters. He began his legal career as a law clerk to United States District Judge J. Owen Forrester.

Mr. Richter received his undergraduate degree in international studies from Emory University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia. He is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia.
