Wai Lam Receives Distinguished Alumni Award from Stony Brook University

Wai Lam, Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Engineering at FalconStor Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: FALC), the market leader in disk-based data protection solutions, was honored with a Distinguished Alumni Award from Stony Brook University. Mr. Lam received his B.A. in Engineering from Stony Brook in 1982, and went on to pursue a distinguished career in software development and management. "I am deeply honored to receive this award,” said Mr. Lam. "The training I received at Stony Brook was instrumental in setting me on a course for success. I would also like to thank Mr. ReiJane Huai, Chairman and CEO of FalconStor, for the many opportunities he has given me throughout my career.” Wai Lam was one of five honorees recognized at the Distinguished Alumni Award Gala on Thursday, November 15, at Flowerfield in St. James. The awards were given as part of the University’s 50th Anniversary celebration. Lam is the first Asian American to receive the award. Mr. Lam is Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Engineering for FalconStor, one of Long Island’s top 75 companies, and a co-founder of the company. He came to FalconStor from Computer Associates International, Inc. As Vice President and Architect at CA, he was responsible for the eTrust Internet security product strategy and design. He joined CA in 1996 with its acquisition of Cheyenne Software, Inc., where he was Director and Architect of the HSM product line. He joined Cheyenne in 1993 with its acquisition of Applied Programming Technologies, Inc., where he was a partner and developer of network storage systems using the newly available optical libraries. Before joining APT, Mr. Lam worked at Hughes Aircraft, where he was a microwave circuit designer for space communication systems, and he was appointed Senior Staff Engineer. Mr. Lam resides in Jericho, New York, with his wife Rosary, who is also a Stony Brook graduate, and their children, Kenneth and Lindsey.
