Virginia Commonwealth Bank Welcomes Mark Herndon To Its Richmond Community Board
RICHMOND, Va., July 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Randal R. Greene, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bay Banks of Virginia, Inc. (OTCQB: BAYK), holding company of Virginia Commonwealth Bank ("VCB") and VCB Financial Group, announces Virginia Commonwealth Bank is pleased to report that Mark W. Herndon has joined the Bank's Richmond Community Board.
"We are pleased and honored to welcome Mark to our VCB family," noted Randal R. Greene. "His ventures throughout his 25-year career have him deeply rooted in the Richmond business and hospitality communities."
Herndon started his career in Richmond as the Chef of Virginia's Executive Mansion where he managed all culinary operations under three consecutive governors. Since 2006, he has been the owner of Buckhead's Restaurant and Chop House—a Richmond institution—and, in recent years, he joined Sugar Shack Donuts & Coffee as a co-owner and its corporate Chief Financial Officer. He is also a partner in Square Burger, a casual dining concept located in McKinney, Texas.
Herndon sits on the Board of Directors for The Doorways, the second largest (non-profit) hospitality house in the country. He also serves on the Board of the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association and for Reynolds Community College Culinary and Hospitality program. During his tenure at the Mansion, Herndon was selected to serve on the Executive Committee for the Restoration and Renovation of The Executive Mansion, a $7.2 million overhaul of the nation's oldest continuously-occupied governor's residence. He has continued his service to the Commonwealth and the Governor's office as a member of the Citizens' Advisory Council on Furnishing and Interpreting the Executive Mansion.
Herndon graduated with honors from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, and continued his education at Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration, where he earned his Master Certificate in Foodservice Management. He is currently pursuing his Certificate in Accounting from the University of Virginia.
Herndon resides in Henrico with his wife, Katya, and their two sons.
Randolph N. Reynolds, Jr., a Director of Virginia Commonwealth Bank and Chairman of the Bank's Richmond Community Board, joined Greene in welcoming Mr. Herndon. Reynolds stated, "As the fifth largest community bank headquartered in Richmond, we are very excited to be a part of Richmond's growing market; and we are extremely pleased to have Mark as a part of our team. With Mark's extensive entrepreneurial experience in the greater Richmond market place, his input will be a tremendous help to us as we continue to meet the needs of our friends and neighbors in the Richmond community."
