Utimaco's SafeGuard Enterprise 5.3 Drives Significant New License Growth
Utimaco – The Data Security Company, announced
today that SafeGuard®
Enterprise 5.3, the first product on the market that couples
advanced encryption and data
leakage prevention (DLP) in one suite, has more than tripled its
deployment of customer seats in the second half of its 2007/2008 fiscal
year compared to the first half of the same year. SafeGuard Enterprise
is now installed on more than 400,000 machines worldwide. The growth was
driven by more than 700 new enterprise customers who selected SafeGuard
Enterprise over the competition. Most of these customers are using a
combination of SafeGuard Enterprise modules for encryption and DLP and
are taking advantage of its advanced capabilities and central management
center console. Today’s announcement comes on
the heels of Utimaco launching SafeGuard Enterprise 5.3 in the last
quarter of its 2007/2008 fiscal year.
Among the newest customers that have selected SafeGuard Enterprise 5.3
are a global leader in IT consulting and outsourcing, a governmental
agency in Canada, a large European public authority and a major U.S.
university – all of whom have realized
enhanced security and protection against data loss as a result of their
relationship with Utimaco. Moreover, with product availability in more
than 7 languages, more than 700 partner specialists trained on SafeGuard
Enterprise and the professional services packages specific to data
security implementations, Utimaco is well prepared for even greater
penetration in the global market.
Utimaco introduced SafeGuard Enterprise in response to customer feedback
for an integrated, cross-platform encryption and DLP solution that would
protect thousands of enterprise endpoints and devices. Within the last
year Utimaco launched a series of modules coupled with its central
management center that offer protection of notebooks and PCs, encryption
of removable media and email, management of 3rd
party encryption such as Microsoft Bitlocker and data leakage prevention.
"I’ve worked with
many of Utimaco’s major competitors’
products, and SafeGuard Enterprise 5.3 proves to be the most
comprehensive data protection package on the market today,”
said Timothy Maliyil, CEO, Data Guard Systems. "The
extensive management API opens up a new world of possibilities for
integration into identity and data protection management services. I’m
impressed with how Utimaco continues to innovate.”
Industry analysts routinely underscore that the most significant threat
to organizations comes from within – and most
of that unintentional. With over 70 percent of corporate data residing
on endpoints, pure gateway security solutions and written security
policies alone cannot adequately safeguard against information loss.
"We've long been Utimaco fans for its ability
to roll out incrementally more useful functionality that leverages its
endpoint footprint,” said Nick Selby,
Research Director with The 451 Group, a technology industry analyst
company focused on the business of enterprise IT innovation. "In
the past year, it's added voice encryption and, through OEM deals, port
and device control (blocking certain devices from attaching and
encrypting data written to removable storage) –
and now anti-data-leakage. We like where Uti's headed.” "We’re very
pleased with the market’s reception to
SafeGuard Enterprise 5.3 and we look forward to continuing to exceed our
customers’ expectations for the
highest-performing IT security solutions available today,”
stated Malte
Pollmann, Chief Product Officer, Utimaco. "It’s
clear that this product has changed the game considerably and has in a
short period of time become a very high-profile and critical component
for many of our customers’ encryption and DLP
strategies.” About SafeGuard Enterprise SafeGuard Enterprise 5.3 is
comprised of the existing SafeGuard Management Center module, the
SafeGuard Device Encryption, the Data Exchange as well as Partner
Connect and SafeGuard Configuration Protection module. Further modules
rounding off Utimaco's data security suite are to be added in later
product versions: SafeGuard File & Folder Encryption secures user data
that is exchanged between working groups. In addition, it can be used to
encrypt both local disk drives and network servers at file and directory
level, and to assign them individual access rights.
