Unum Group Q4 Profit Down - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Unum Group (UNM) Tuesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $221.2 million or $0.84 per share, down from $233.9 million or $0.85 per share in the same period last year.

Operating income for the quarter was $223.8 million or $0.85 per share. On average, 18 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.84 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues decreased to $2.59 billion from $2.66 billion last year. Analysts expected revenues of $2.60 billion. Looking ahead to the fiscal 2014, the company anticipates adjusted earnings growth in the range of five percent to ten percent.
