Unum Group Q3 Earnings Rise 8%

(RTTNews) - Unum Group (UNM) released a profit for its third quarter that rose compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line advanced to $246.1 million, or $1.09 per share. This was up from $228.7 million, or $0.98 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.04 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 2.2% to $2.82 billion. This was up from $2.76 billion last year.
