Univfy CEO Mylene Yao honored among MM&M's Top 40 Healthcare Transformers

LOS ALTOS, Calif., April 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Univfy CEO Mylene Yao, M.D., was honored with MM&M's Top 40 Healthcare Transformer Award, joining the 2017 class of leading biopharma and health technology innovators.

"I'm thrilled to be part of the Top 40 Healthcare Transformers Program," said Yao, board-certified OB-GYN, former NIH-funded scientist and Stanford University faculty member. "It's an honor to be recognized as part of an accomplished group of pioneers working to revolutionize healthcare through innovative technology."

Each year, MM&M selects 40 innovators - industry veterans and startup founders alike - to be part of its Healthcare Transformers Program. On May 1, Yao and the other members of the 2017 class will be honored at an induction dinner at MM&M's Transforming Healthcare Conference in New York.

Yao founded Univfy in 2009 on the basis of patented technology that uses machine learning to predict personalized probabilities of IVF success. She developed the technology at Stanford University with her colleague and cofounder, Dr. Wing H. Wong, Stephen R. Pierce Family Goldman Sachs Professor in Science and Human Health and Professor in the Departments of Statistics (former Chairman), Biology, and Health Policy at Stanford University.

Today Univfy supports IVF providers to counsel each patient with a personalized, easy-to-understand and scientifically validated report outlining her chance of successful pregnancy with IVF.

"At Univfy," Yao said, "we are helping women and couples realize their dream of having a baby by applying state-of-the-art predictive analytics to provide transparency and personalized prognosis to patients and providers in the IVF field."

Many patients need more than one IVF treatment to have a baby. In addition to medication side effects and stress, the cost of IVF is a major factor in a patient's decision to pursue multiple treatments. Univfy responded to patients' requests to make IVF more affordable by dramatically expanding eligibility to enroll in refund warranty programs offered by providers, making it financially feasible for patients to pursue several IVF treatments, if needed, to maximize their chances of success.

Using machine learning, providers powered by Univfy can offer more than 50% of patients to enroll in refund warranty or special pricing programs. Across the country, progressive fertility centers sharing Univfy's vision are participating with Univfy to make IVF a more affordable and realistic option for patients considering fertility treatment.

Today in the United States, one in eight couples struggle to conceive. Univfy is proud to support National Infertility Awareness Week, April 23-29, an awareness-raising movement founded in 1989 by RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association.

"At Univfy, we strive to reduce the stigma of infertility and bring transparency and informed decision-making to patients trying to conceive," said Yao. "The MM&M Top 40 Healthcare Transformers award couldn't have come at a better time to raise awareness about infertility as a medical condition."
