University of Miami Program To Train Health Care Executives on Tackling Ethical and Compliance Issues When Doing Business in Latin America

CORAL GABLES, Fla., Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Though the pharmaceutical industry has made strong moves in Latin America with high volumes and market growth, hurdles still face the lucrative pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical device industry.  Tough ethical, regulatory and compliance issues remain huge challenges.  In an effort to help firms meet these challenges, the University of Miami School of Business Administration in October 2013 will offer an innovative training program designed specifically for compliance officers and related health care industry executives whose firms currently do, or intend to do, business in Latin America.

The Latin American Health Care Compliance Certificate Program is a collaborative effort of the School's Center for Health Sector Management and Policy, Office of Executive Education, and corporate partners including Johnson & Johnson, Deloitte, and Ernst & Young. Participants in the program will gain a thorough understanding via highly interactive training modules.  The program provides Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits.

The intensive three-day educational and training program, offered on October 23-25, 2013, will focus on topics including: 

• Development of compliance programs
• Reputation management
• Anticorruption and transparency
• Local and international enforcement
• Decision making in an uncertain legal environment
• Latin American trade associations and codes
• Interacting with government
• Interacting with third-party intermediaries
• Global and regional anti-corruption conventions
• U.S. and U.K. anti-corruption legislation
