United Natural Foods Profit Rises, Meets Street - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI) Monday reported second-quarter net earnings of $28 million or $0.56 per share compared with $22.6 million or $0.46 per share last year.

Revenues for the quarter were up about 14% at $1.65 billion compared with $1.45 billion in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.56 per share on revenues of $1.64 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Looking ahead to fiscal year 2014, the company now expects net earnings of $2.45 to $2.51 per share on revenues of $6.70 billion to $6.78 billion. It earlier projected earnings of $2.40 to $2.50 per share and sales of $6.65 billion to $6.78 billion.

Analysts expect earnings of $2.52 per share on revenues of $6.72 billion for the year.
