United Microelectronics Q4 Profit Rises - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC) reported that its fourth-quarter net income attributable to stockholders of the parent increased to NT$749 million, from NT$739 million, prior year. Earnings per basic share was NT$0.06, flat with prior year. Earnings per ADS was US$0.010, flat with last year.

Net operating revenues increased to NT$30.72 billion, from NT$28.85 billion, a year ago. Po-Wen Yen, CEO of UMC, said, "In the fourth quarter of 2013, UMC recorded NT$28.58 billion in revenue from the foundry segment, with operating margin from foundry operations of 2.7%. Wafer shipments reached 1.236 million 8-inch equivalent wafers, bringing overall capacity utilization to 79%."
