United Airlines February Traffic And Capacity Down - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - United Airlines (UAL) reported that its traffic in February 2014 declined 0.3% from February 2013, on a capacity decrease of 0.9%.

The airline said its February traffic, measured in revenue passenger miles, dropped 0.3% to 13.69 billion from 13.74 billion RPMs in the same period last year.

The airline's February capacity, measured in available seat miles, was 17.29 billion, down 0.9% from 17.46 billion ASMs in the prior year period.

But, Monthly Passenger load factor was 79.2%, up 0.5 points from 78.7% last year.

The company said its operations were significantly impacted by winter storms in February, and in total UAL cancelled more than 11,000 flights during the month. Weather-driven cancellations reduced year-over-year capacity by approximately 3 percentage points.
