Thoughts and prayers following shooting at Fort Lauderdale International Airport

ATLANTA, Jan. 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta CEO Ed Bastian extends condolences following reports of a shooting at the Fort Lauderdale International Airport in the baggage claim area in Terminal 2, where Delta operates.

"The thoughts and prayers of the entire Delta family are with the people of Fort Lauderdale and Broward County, and those involved in the tragic events today," said Delta CEO Ed Bastian. The terminal was evacuated as a result of the shooting. Preliminary reports indicate that all Delta employees are safe and accounted for during what remains an ongoing active shooter incident at the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport. We are working with local law enforcement. Customers traveling to and from FLL today should expect flight disruptions and are encouraged to check flight status at Delta.com or via the Fly Delta Mobile App.

Due to the status of Terminal 2, Delta will be offering a waiver for customers to change their travel plans free of penalty, and will be published to the delta.com homepage soon.
