The November Edition of The Bridge, the Materials Science Newsletter from Rigaku, is Now Online
THE WOODLANDS, Texas, Nov. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The latest edition of The Bridge, the materials science newsletter from Rigaku Corporation, is now available on the company's global website. The Bridge highlights current news and techniques related to X-ray based materials science, including news reports, articles and scientific papers.
The November 2018 edition of The Bridge contains application papers for X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) and wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WDXRF), as well as useful content related to X-ray diffraction & elemental analysis
This month's featured XRD technical note discusses crystallization behavior of ionic liquid at low temperatures. XRF application notes describe the measurement of sulfur in crude oil and fuels by ASTM D2622-16 (Standard Test Method for Sulfur in Petroleum Products by Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry) and the analysis of fiberglass by EDXRF spectroscopy.
The featured article explores a new texture plugin for the Rigaku SmartLab Studio II program suite. The presence of crystallographic texture in polycrystalline materials has a significant effect on the characterization and prediction of their properties. The new plugin, called Texture, is intended for quantitative texture analysis.
Two videos are included in this edition–one covering Japan's second space mission to an asteroid, and another commemorating NASA's 60th anniversary. The book review covers The Perfectionists: How Precision Engineers Created the Modern World by Simon Winchester. The book traces the history of high-precision engineering from 1776 to present day.
"Material Analysis in the News" offers an overview of the latest developments in materials science and the monthly compilation of material analysis papers presents 23 recently published scientific papers.
