CHESTERFIELD, Mo., Sept. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, a national not-for-profit organization focused on diversity and inclusion in American business has announced its new Board of Trustees Chairman, Robert M. Dammon. Dammon is also the Dean of Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business and has been a professor of financial economics for nearly 3 decades.   Carnegie Mellon University joined The Consortium in 2001.

The Consortium's Board Chairmen are chosen on a rotational basis, serving 2-year terms.  Each of its 18 member school deans have the opportunity to serve as the organization's leader.

The Consortium's Executive Director and CEO Peter J. Aranda III is pleased to welcome Dammon as Board Chairman. "We are grateful to Dean Dammon for accepting this role," said Aranda. "We are confident that his leadership will allow us to reach our current strategic goals, and bring new insight into helping The Consortium fulfill its mission."

Dammon champions The Consortium's cause and looks forward to his term as Board Chairman.

"Diversity within organizations is a strength," said Dammon. "In business education, diversity benefits the entire class of students by fostering a healthy exchange of ideas and backgrounds. This translates directly into business management, where corporations and institutions benefit by having leadership that better understands and appreciates cultural perspectives and that is increasingly representative of the modern, increasingly global marketplace.

Since its inception in 1966, The Consortium has made great strides in broadening avenues for diversity and inclusion in top MBA programs and businesses. I look forward to working with our academic colleagues and corporate partners in continuing this mission."
