Texas Black Expo Honors Houston Business Leaders for Commitment to Entrepreneurship and Empowerment

HOUSTON, May 9, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Texas Black Expo, Inc. (TBE), producers of the largest African American tradeshow and festival in the south, will pay tribute to business leaders and organizations that work to foster entrepreneurship and economic empowerment. Honorees will be awarded during TBE's Corporate Awards Luncheon and include the Houston Area Urban League and Keith J. Davis Sr., founder of D-Mars.

This signature event is a part of the festivities surrounding TBE's 14th Annual Summer Celebration. It will be held on Friday, June 9th at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

"I'm looking forward to speaking at this year's luncheon," says Mr. Bosso. "At the Myrtle Group, we work with clients to help them improve performance and reach their full potential, so I would say entrepreneurship and empowerment is at the core of our business."

The 2017 honorees were handpicked based on their commitment to economic development in the Houston community. Keith J. Davis Sr. is well-known among his peers as a visionary entrepreneur and started D-Mars, a marketing and communications agency, to help other business owners.

The Houston Area Urban League is a part of the nation's oldest community based movement, which provides programs and resources for economically disadvantaged groups. Other honorees will be announced over the weeks leading up to the event.

"I'm proud of what Texas Black Expo has accomplished over the years, but we realized early on that we could not do this alone," says TBE president, Jerome Love. "This is why it's important for us to recognize other organizations and individuals that are dedicated to helping the community at large."

The luncheon is sponsored by HEB, Enterprise, KPRC Channel 2 and Myrtle Consulting Group LLC. Information about individual tickets or group table reservations is available at texasblackexpo.com.
