Technip In Deal With Petrobras For Projects Modifications Services In Brazil
(RTTNews) - Technip SA (TKPPY.PK, TNHPF.PK), a French company for project management, engineering and construction for the energy industry, Tuesday announced that it has signed a four-year frame agreement with Brazil's national oil company Petróleo Brasileiro SA (PBR), or better known as Petrobras.
The contract is for projects modifications services for the Rio de Janeiro Operations Unit or UO-RIO, including existing offshore platforms located in the Campos Basin area, Brazil.
The company noted that the services comprise basic and detailed design, documentation update, engineering consulting, planning, control and execution supplies for 13 offshore platforms.
Previously, Technip was awarded contracts on some of these projects, most notably designing and constructing the topsides of three of Petrobras' deepwater production semis - P-51, P-52 and P-56 - the largest topsides floatovers onto semi hulls in the world.
Technip said its operating center in Rio de Janeiro will carry out the project management, engineering and procurement. Services will be performed upon client request.
The Rio de Janeiro Exploration and Production Operations Unit was created on November 1, 2000, from the restructuring of Petrobras' Exploration and Production business segment. UO-RIO currently operates 15 offshore platforms, becoming the Petrobras' biggest production unit regarding oil and gas output.
Jose Jorge Araujo, Technip's Senior Vice President of Onshore Latin America & Offshore Brazil, stated, "This award reasserts Technip in Brazil's competitiveness as a top-class services provider and reinforces our long-term commitment to Petrobras' key projects."
