Survivors to Inspire Local NYC Amputees

WESTBURY, N.Y., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Spreading hope and inspiration by example, two incredible NY survivors and one accomplished amputee actor from Hollywood are setting out to encourage, motivate, and educate the physically- challenged NYC community on Saturday, September 17th at a day of disability awareness in Westbury, NY:

* Krishna Thompson, from Long Island, NY lost his leg in a vicious shark attack in August 2001. A successful Wall Street banker, Thompson now wears a bionic prosthetic leg and has returned to his active life. Krishna's story was featured on Dateline NBC, The Today Show, The View and The O'Reilly Factor. * Robin Froehlich, from Levittown, NY lost her leg in a battle with dysvascular disease and is now actively involved as an amputee support and education advocate. * John Siciliano, from Studio City, CA lost his leg in a car accident and has since become an accomplished actor appearing on NBC's ER and Days of our Lives, appearing most recently as "Pokey the Pirate" in the 2004 blockbuster hit, The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie. Siciliano is also a Paralympic track champion.

Thompson, Froehlich, and Siciliano will spend the day talking one-on-one with physically-challenged members of the NY community. In addition to meeting the inspirational survivors, attendees at the day of disability awareness will have the opportunity to see bionic prosthetic leg presentations, operate computerized arm technology, and experience a 3D laser scanning technology -- all in an effort to promote awareness and education.
