Supervalu Inc. Earnings Drop 6% In Q3

(RTTNews) - Supervalu Inc. (SVU) announced a profit for third quarter that fell compared to the same period last year.

The company said its earnings fell to $46 million, or $0.16 per share. This was lower than $49 million, or $0.18 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.16 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 2.8% to $4.11 billion. This was down from $4.23 billion last year.
