Sun Bancorp Names Thomas O'Brien President, CEO

(RTTNews) - Sun Bancorp, Inc. (SNBC) Wednesday said it has agreed, along with its wholly owned unit Sun National Bank, to hire Thomas O'Brien as president and chief executive officer. Until O'Brien takes up the roles, he is to serve as consultant to the Board of directors, and Sidney Brown, chairman of the Board, will continue to serve as interim president and CEO.

Sidney Brown said O'Brien's appointment will be an effective catalyst to help complete the implementation of ongoing regulatory compliance program, improve regulatory standing and advance growth as one of the largest commercial banking organizations in New Jersey.

Thomas O'Brien was president and CEO of Bank of Long Island/State Bancorp, Inc. from November 2006 to January 2012. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of Atlantic Bank of NY.
