Strayer Education Q4 Profit Edges Up, Tops View; Revenues Down - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Strayer Education Inc. (STRA) reported Thursday that its fourth-quarter net income was $13.04 million, a 1 percent increase from $12.94 million last year.

Earnings per share were $1.21, unchanged from the same period in 2014. On average, four analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $1.18 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenues for the three months decreased 2% to $113.66 million from $116.07 million last year, principally due to lower revenue per student, partially offset by higher enrollment. Analysts expected $113.60 million revenues.

Income from operations fell 4 percent to $21.7 million, and operating margin was 19.1%, compared to 19.5% in 2014.

Total enrollments at Strayer University for the winter term 2016 increased to 40,872 students from 40,728 students for the winter term 2015. New student enrollments decreased by 5%, and continuing student enrollments increased by 2%.

The Company announced that its 2016 Annual Meeting of Stockholders will take place on Tuesday, May 3.
