The aerospace company's two existing Fibre Channel SANs weremanaged separately in different locations, with each siteindependently responsible for its data backup. Repeated attempts toconsolidate, connect and leverage the SANs for transparent failoverand replication to each other for disaster recovery proved ineffectivewith various storage solutions. Wanting to connect and replicate itsSANs, Techspace Aero turned to SYSTEMAT, who recommended andimplemented FalconStor's IPStor software.

Techspace Aero has configured its two appliances running IPStorsoftware as an active cluster, enabling transparent failover andsynchronous mirroring of data between the two SANs, something that hadpreviously eluded the company. The FalconStor-powered solutionprovides improved business resilience in the event of a disaster, andguarantees greater data uptime and quality of service to the company's1200 employees in case of unexpected hardware outage or plannedmaintenance.

iSCSI has replaced Fibre Channel at Techspace Aero, and is beingused for Storage Provisioning. The servers connected to the applianceshave been thoroughly optimized, resulting in a general 30 percentimprovement in performance. The company is not only saving time butalso benefits from increased data security by no longer having to useits previous manual process -with the associated downtime- tosynchronize data.

IPStor's hardware agnosticity was also a critical element in thesmooth migration of the company's data from its existing HP MA 8000and 12000 disk subsystems to two new EMC CX700 disk subsystems. Due toits exceptional overall level of satisfaction with IPStor, IT managersat Techspace Aero also decided to use some of IPStor's optionaladditional functionality. All of the company's storage architecturehas been unified using the IP Trunking option, Real-Time Antivirusoption and NAS Protocol. Real-Time Antivirus is a layer of antivirusscanning capabilities within IPStor software that employs the advancedtechnology of Trend Micro.
