St. Jude Medical Q4 Adj. Profit Tops View - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - St. Jude Medical Inc. (STJ) reported fourth-quarter net earnings attributable to company of $245 million or $0.84 per share, compared to $123 million or $0.42 per share, last year.

Adjusted net earnings attributable to St. Jude Medical, Inc. for the latest fourth quarter was $298 million or $1.03 per share, up from $294 million or $0.99 per share in the year-ago period.

On average, 23 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $1.03 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items. 

Net sales increased 1% to $1.44 billion from $1.42 billion in the prior year quarter, while 22 analysts expected revenue of $1.44 billion for the quarter. On a constant-currency basis, net sales increased by approximately 5 percent over the fourth quarter of 2013.

Looking ahead to the first quarter, St. Jude Medical expects consolidated adjusted net earnings to be in the range of $0.90 to $0.92 per share and revenue to grow in the range of 2 percent to 4 percent on a constant currency basis with currency negatively impacting first quarter revenue by approximately $85 million to $100 million. Analysts expect the company to report first-quarter earnings per share of $0.97 on revenue of $1.37 billion.

For the full-year 2015, the company expects consolidated adjusted net earnings to be in the range of $3.95 to $4.00 per share and revenue to grow in the range of 3 percent to 5 percent on a constant currency basis with currency negatively impacting full-year 2015 revenue by approximately $325 million to $350 million. Analysts expect the company to report full year earnings per share of $4.13.
