Springleaf Holdings Turns To Profit In Q1 - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Springleaf Holdings, Inc. (LEAF) posted first-quarter 2014 net income attributable to the company of $52 million, or $0.45 per share, as against a loss of $10 million, or $0.10 per share, last year. The company said that net income in the quarter included a $55 million pretax net gain from the sale of $1 billion of real estate unpaid principal balance in March 2014.
On a non-GAAP basis, quarterly core earnings for the firm's core consumer operations totaled $50 million, versus $25 million in the prior-year quarter, and core earnings per share climbed year-over-year to $0.43, from $0.25. On average, 9 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.43 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Interest income for the three-month period of $552.64 million, was higher than $413.04 million in the previous year, while 4 analysts estimated revenues of $438.36 million.
