Splunk To Acquire BugSense

(RTTNews) - Data-analysis software maker Splunk Inc. (SPLK) Monday agreed to acquire BugSense Inc., an analytics solution for machine data generated by mobile devices.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Splunk said the addition of BugSense will enhance the ability of its customers to analyze machine data directly from mobile devices and correlate it with other machine-generated data to gain operational intelligence.

"BugSense has a strong mobile development team and is an exciting addition to our product portfolio," said Splunk CEO Godfrey Sullivan.

Founded in 2011, BugSense provides developers and users rich analytics across a wide variety of use cases including mobile app performance, app quality, troubleshooting and usage based on data from mobile devices. BugSense supports all major mobile platforms, including Android, iOS and Windows Phone, via its mobile software development kits.

The deal is expected to close during Splunk's fiscal third quarter 2014.
