Shake Shack Giving Away Burgers

(RTTNews) - Shake Shack Inc. (SHAK) is giving away free burgers on Tuesday, August 16, to celebrate the opening of its hundredth restaurant at the Boston Seaport.

The restaurant chain's hundredth location will open on August 16 at 77 Seaport Bouvelard, Boston. The restaurant is also the company's fifth in Massachusetts.

Shake Shack said that the first 100 guests at each of its locations will receive a free single ShackBurger, or a burger of equal or lesser value, before 12 p.m. today.

All U.S. Shacks, including Boston Seaport, will begin serving burgers at 10:30 a.m. on this day. However, the company's locations inside ballparks and stadiums will not be participating in the giveaway.

"From our first-ever Shack in Madison Square Park twelve years ago, to so many incredible places in between, opening our 100th Shack at Boston Seaport is an epic milestone for us," Shake Shack CEO Randy Garutti said.

To coincide with the Boston Seaport opening, Shake Shack also said it has partnered with celebrated Boston chefs Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette to create the Coppa Burger.

The limited-edition burger is named after and inspired by the chefs' award-winning Italian restaurant in Boston's South End. Shake Shack noted that this is its first chef-driven burger collaboration in Massachusetts.

The Coppa Burger, costing $6.89, is a 100 percent all-natural Angus beef hamburger topped with provolone cheese, griddled mortadella, cherry peppers, caramelized onions, mayo and shredded lettuce.

The limited edition burger will be available from Tuesday, August 16, to Sunday, August 21, 2016 at all five of the restaurant chain's Massachusetts locations.

In addition to the Shack classics, the Boston Seaport menu will feature two location-specific frozen custard concretes - the Strawberry CrunchCake and Seaport Salt & Malt.

Shake Shack said it will donate five percent of its sales from the Seaport Salt & Malt concrete to Courageous Sailing, a non-profit community sailing center that provides education and ocean access to Greater Boston community members.
