Scott Johnson named president and publisher of the St. Cloud (MN) Times
Gannett's (NYSE:GCI) U.S. Community Publishing division has named Scott Johnson president and publisher of the St. Cloud (MN) Times. He formerly was regional advertising director of Gannett Wisconsin Media in Green Bay.
"Scott is an innovator in finding solutions for customers and delivering the right audiences for advertisers across all platforms. He brings an impressive background in market development strategy and sales,” said Robert Dickey, president of Gannett’s U.S. Community Publishing. "Scott is committed to strong local journalism and will contribute much to the St. Cloud community.”
Johnson succeeds Bill Albrecht, who earlier was named president of the Media Network of Central Ohio and president and publisher of The Advocate in Newark, Ohio.
Johnson joined Gannett in 2001, serving as advertising manager of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. He was named advertising director of the Green Bay Press-Gazette in 2003 and was promoted to regional advertising director of Gannett Wisconsin Media in 2005. Prior to joining Gannett, he worked in advertising at the Dubuque (IA) Telegraph Herald and for Unified Newspaper Group in Oregon and Royle Publishing/Hometown News Group in Wisconsin.
Johnson earned a Gannett President’s Ring in Advertising in 2009 and a Gannett Award of Excellence for Advertising Management in 2002.
He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, graduating magna cum laude.
