Samsung Announces Galaxy S5 Phone - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Samsung Electronics Co. (SSNLF) Monday unveiled a new version of its Galaxy S5 smartphone, and also announced a new smart watch and fitness band.

Samsung Electronics, the world's biggest smartphone maker, said the new Galaxy S5 phone comes with a screen size of 5.1 inches, slightly up from its predecessor the S4, and has a 16 megapixel camera.

Apart from the improved camera technology, S5 also has more protection against water and dust, Samsung said.

Samsung unveiled the device at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

The company also announced new smartwatch devices, including the Gear 2, and a wristband device called the Samsung Gear Fit. The Gear 2, which runs on the Tizen operating system, can monitor the wearer's heart rate, while the Gear Fit comes with features such as a pedometer and heart rate monitor.
