Roadrunner Transportation Profit Falls; Outlook Weak

(RTTNews) - Roadrunner Transportation Systems Inc (RRTS) Wednesday reported first-quarter net earnings to stockholders of $10.4 million or $0.27 per share compared with $10.6 million or $0.29 per share last year.

Revenues for the quarter were up 27.6% at $382 million compared with $299.4 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.26 per share on revenues of $363 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Operating expenses for the quarter increased to $93.7 million from $70.5 million a year ago.

Looking ahead to the second quarter, the company expects earnings of $0.37 to $0.41 per share and revenues of $420 million to $445 million. Analysts expect earnings of $0.42 per share on revenues of $440.6 million.
