Rite Aid and Lindora to Expand In-Store Health Care Clinics in Southern California

Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE:RAD) and Lindora, Inc. announced today they plan to open five more Lindora Health Clinics inside Rite Aid stores in southern California after the successful launch of the unique in-store wellness/weight loss concept late last year. Currently there are four Lindora Health Clinics in Rite Aid stores in Los Angeles and the Orange County area. Lindora Health Clinics offer supervised weight management and traditional in-store health care clinic services, including diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses such as ear infections, strep throat, sinus infections, poison ivy and other skin rashes and the flu. Certified nurse practitioners and other health care professionals on staff, who work in collaboration with Lindora physicians, administer such services and are available to write prescriptions to treat those illnesses. In addition, they offer diagnostic screenings including those for diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, tuberculosis and urinary infections as well as for cardio metabolic risk factors and body mass index. Vaccinations, including those for flu, hepatitis, meningitis, pneumonia and chickenpox, are available as are physical and sports exams. Lindora’s medically supervised weight control program combines diet, moderate exercise and motivational tools to help patients become Lean for Life ®. Supervised weight management services are offered for those looking to start or restart a weight loss program, including adolescents and seniors. Currently Lindora operates Health Clinics in Rite Aid stores in Los Angeles, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach and Laguna Niguel. New Lindora Health Clinics are planned for Rite Aid stores in El Segundo, Santa Monica, Encinitas and Tustin, which are expected to open by the end of the year, and in San Diego, expected to open by next spring. "Patients appreciate the ease and affordability of getting basic non-emergency health care services and access to medically supervised weight management programs in the convenient setting of their local Rite Aid. Having nurse practitioners available to treat common family illness and write commonly-used prescriptions gives our customers and their families one more way to take care of their health,” said Mark de Bruin, Rite Aid executive vice president of pharmacy. "With obesity at epidemic proportions and a major factor in developing diabetes, heart disease and hypertension, there is also a growing need for the kind of weight management programs the clinics offer. We’re fortunate to partner with Lindora, which is recognized for its proven weight management programs at its 38 Lindora Medical Clinics throughout southern California.” "The partnership with Rite Aid has been exceptionally productive especially in terms of allowing us greater access to the communities we serve,” said Cynthia Stamper Graff, Lindora president and chief executive officer. Clinic hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday with no appointment necessary (open Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. in select locations). Lindora’s line of diet products including a selection of protein bars, shakes, nutritional supplements, weight loss program books, instructional DVDs and the newly-introduced "Weight Loss Starter Kit” are also now available at all Southern California Rite Aid locations. Established in 1971, Lindora offers a multi-faceted, medically supervised program combining diet, moderate exercise and motivational tools to help patients become Lean for Life®. Emphasizing the philosophy of "Eat Better, Move More, Stress Less™” the program helps 4,000 patients each day at its 38 Southern California medical clinics and thousands more through its online programs and best-selling books.
