Report: Google Discloses It Paid Less Than 1 Bln For Waze - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Google Inc. (GOOG) has finally disclosed that it bought mobile app developer Waze for $966 million, less than the $1.1 - $1.3 billion figure reported in the media for the acquisition.
The details were revealed in the regulatory documents filed by Google on Thursday. The company had withheld the price last month when it announced the acquisition of the Israel-based startup.
Waze is a mobile navigation app which provides real-time information on traffic and helps the driver find short-cuts and stops along the way. Waze has over 50 million users and is currently available for Android, iOS, Symbian, Windows Phone and BlackBerry.
According to Google's second-quarter financial results, the company spent a total of $966 million on the deal, of which $847 were spent on goodwill and $188 million were spent on intangible assets.
The report also reveals that Google has bought around 15 other companies for approximately $344 million in the first-half of 2013.
