Reliant Energy Powers Up the Rockets and Toyota Center
The Houston Rockets and Reliant Energy announced today that they have signed an agreement making Reliant Energy the official electricity supplier to the team and Toyota Center.
"We are thrilled to have been chosen by the Rockets to light up Toyota Center,” said Tom Gros, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Reliant Energy. "Houston is our hometown and we are gratified to be providing electric service to some of the city’s most important institutions including our sports teams. We are equally excited about the opportunity this agreement provides to join forces with the Rockets in our community.”
"Reliant Energy provides the right combination of innovative energy solutions and the opportunity to work with a respected community partner,” said Tad Brown, CEO of the Houston Rockets. "We are looking forward to our relationship with Reliant both on and off the court.”
In addition to this new agreement with the Rockets, Reliant also is the electricity supplier to several other sports teams. The company and the teams work together on outreach programs with the Boys and Girls Clubs, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Rebuilding Together Houston and several school districts. Reliant is proud to be a part of making Houston a great sports town, with great teams, helping to provide world-class entertainment and community support.

About Houston Rockets:
Established before the 1967-68 NBA season, the Rockets began calling Houston home prior to the 1971-72 season. The 2010-11 campaign marks the 44th season of Rockets basketball. Under the ownership of Leslie Alexander, the Rockets brought Houston its first two major professional sports titles by winning back-to-back NBA Finals in 1993-94 and 1994-95. Alexander, who has held the longest ownership tenure in franchise history, continues to strive for peak success both on and off the court. In 1995, Alexander established the Clutch City Foundation with the goal of providing help, hope and inspiration to those who might otherwise be forgotten. The Clutch City Foundation funds and operates comprehensive programs benefiting thousands of children each year, as well as serving as the umbrella organization for all Rockets community initiatives. Over 15 years of active community involvement has resulted in over $11 million raised for local charities, allowing the Rockets to impact tens of thousands of Houstonians each year.
