Primerica Results Miss Estimates

(RTTNews) - Primerica Inc (PRI), a provider of life insurance and investment products, on Wednesday reported first-quarter net earnings of $43.4 million or $0.82 per share compared with $45 million or $0.81 per share last year.

Excluding items, operating earnings for the quarter were $0.80 per share compared with $0.77 per share a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.81 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenues for the quarter were up 6% at $345.1 million compared with $324.3 million in the prior year. Analysts estimated revenues of $348.3 million.

Net premiums rose to $174 million from $159.3 million a year ago.
