Apple Inc. (AAPL) is up 1 percent to $480.06. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. (GT) is up 5 percent to $23.32. The company announced strategies and goals for the next three years and its capital allocation plan. The company reconfirmed its outlook for 2013 segment operating income of about $1.5 billion and targets annual segment operating income growth of 10 percent to 15 percent through 2016. The company also announced its capital allocation plan that includes reinstatement of a quarterly cash dividend on its common stock and a $100 million share repurchase program.

Verenium Corp. (VRNM) is jumping 59 percent to $4.00. BASF (BASFY.PK, BFA.L) has agreed to acquire the biotechnology company for $4.00 per share.

Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (CYCC) is gaining 39 percent to $5.30. The company announced updated data showing that sapacitabine has activity against a majority of ovarian cancer samples taken from patients, including resistant tumors.

TIBCO Software Inc. (TIBX) is up 8 percent to $27.26 following the release of its quarterly results.

Decliners:

Prosensa (RNA) is down 77 percent to $5.40. GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK, GSK.L) Phase III clinical study of an investigational antisense oligonucleotide, drisapersen, did not meet the primary endpoint of a statistically significant improvement in the 6 Minute Walking Distance test compared to placebo. Drisapersen, which was recently granted the Breakthrough Therapy designation, is being studied for the treatment of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy patients with an amenable mutation.

Sarepta Therapeutics, Inc. (SRPT) is down 4 percent to $35.07.

Darden Restaurants, Inc. (DRI) is down 4 percent to $47.00. The company's first quarter profit declined from the previous year period. The company also announced steps to reduce its annualized operating support spending by approximately $50 million through a combination of workforce reductions and program spending cuts. Darden also announced that Drew Madsen, its President and Chief Operating Officer, has decided to retire at the end of the second quarter.
