Positive Promotions and Riverhead, Long Island Cheerleading Squad Announce Nationwide "Pink Pom Poms 39K Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign"

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Aug. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Thanks to a unique alliance with Long Island's Positive Promotions, the Riverhead High School Cheerleading Team's quest to raise breast cancer awareness and fundraise for the cause has become a national campaign.

It all began when the parent of one Riverhead cheerleader discovered Positive Promotions' breast cancer awareness and fundraising resources and thought the squad could use them in their fundraising efforts. Her daughter, and the team, embraced the idea of fundraising to generate breast cancer awareness, and their passion for the cause and involvement grew from there. 

With input from Positive Promotions, the "39K Campaign" was created after it was discovered that an estimated 39,620 women will be lost to breast cancer this year alone. The number 39K became a rallying cry and the question was asked, "What if 390 schools across the country could raise $3,900 each to honor the 39,000 women lost to breast cancer and support the search for a cure?" A mission was born.
