Philippe A. Tanguy appointed Chief Executive Officer of Polytechnique Montréal
MONTRÉAL, Nov. 29, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The Government of Québec today confirmed by decree the appointment of Philippe A. Tanguy, P. Eng., PhD, as the 15th Chief Executive Officer of Polytechnique Montréal. Mr. Tanguy will assume his new post in January 2018.
This past summer, members of Polytechnique Montréal's Board of Directors unanimously recommended to the government that Mr. Tanguy be appointed CEO for a four-year term.
Mr. Tanguy holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Université Laval. He was a professor of chemical engineering for 25 years, including two at Dalhousie University in Halifax, eight at Université Laval in Québec City, then 15 in Polytechnique's Department of Chemical Engineering, where he also held two research chairs. For nine years, he served in a senior management position with Total SA in France and Germany, where he was, among other things, in charge of scientific affairs and partnerships. Among his missions was transformation of the existing energy system into an energy mix based on renewable sources.
Mr. Tanguy will succeed Christophe Guy, who led the institution for 10 years from 2007 to 2017. François Bertrand, Polytechnique's Chief Research, Innovation and International Officer, is serving as interim CEO until Mr. Tanguy takes up his new duties.
Mr. Tanguy will be available for interviews when he assumes office in January.
