Perficient Joins Cross-Industry IBM Data Governance Council
Perficient, Inc. (NASDAQ: PRFT) a leading information technology
consulting firm serving Global 2000 and other large enterprise customers
throughout North America, today announced it has joined the IBM Data
Governance Council, an industry group of leading companies designed to
help organizations take a more disciplined approach to handling data.
The group, which was formed by IBM three years ago —
and now has more than 50 leading corporations, institutions and
technology solution providers — is a global
effort to develop a ‘blueprint’
of common solutions for challenges that apply to security, privacy,
trust and corporate compliance issues.
As organizations struggle to manage and control the mountains of data
that reside within different parts of their business, it becomes harder
for them to measure the value of their data, and calculate the risks
around data loss. Data governance addresses this need, providing
processes to help companies govern their critical data by assessing
value, measuring risk and mitigating security and operational exposures.
The Data Governance Council is working to redefine the management of
data governance policy, the impact of policy on business processes and
practices, and the enforcement of policy in IT infrastructure,
information management and organizational behavior. Members of the
Council are collaborating on ways to address these issues using IBM and
business partner solutions and concepts. Perficient’s
addition to the Data Governance Council brings added vision and
expertise in information management, business integration, service
oriented architectures and security and risk management.
"Data Governance is a maturing market and we
are clearly seeing leading companies succeed in this critical area,
thanks in part to our Data Governance Maturity Model,”
said IBM’s Steve Adler, chair of the Data
Governance Council and program director. "With
cross-organizational governance models, improved transparency and better
decision-making, our members are working together to explore the nature
of data stewardship and overcome the complexities of organizational
stovepipes with new approaches to data governance. We look forward to
Perficient’s participation in the Council, as
they bring new insight and expertise into complex data integration and
data quality initiatives.” "We’re honored to
accept this exclusive invitation,” said
Nagesh Kanumury, Perficient’s Master Data
Management Practice Director. "Our
industry-leading expertise around IBM’s
Information on Demand portfolio of products including IBM Information
Server, InfoSphere Master Data Management Server, FileNet Enterprise
Content Management and the IBM Compliance Warehouse will enable us to
play an active and valuable role on the council.” "Information Management-based solutions
deliver meaningful value to our clients and are playing an increasingly
important role in our success,” said John
Jenkins, Perficient’s Vice-President of IBM
Field Operations. "We look forward to sharing
our experience and insights to make meaningful contributions to this
important endeavor.”
