Pennsylvania Revenue Department Releases September 2013 Collections
HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania collected $2.4 billion in General Fund revenue in September, which was $15.2 million, or 0.6 percent, more than anticipated, Secretary of Revenue Daniel Meuser reported today. Fiscal year-to-date General Fund collections total $6.1 billion, which is $12.8 million, or 0.2 percent, above estimate.
Sales tax receipts totaled $730.4 million for September, $900,000 below estimate. Year-to-date sales tax collections total $2.3 billion, which is $20.6 million, or 0.9 percent, more than anticipated.
Personal income tax (PIT) revenue in September was $986 million, $8.3 million above estimate. This brings year-to-date PIT collections to $2.5 billion, which is $2.9 million, or 0.1 percent, above estimate.
September corporation tax revenue of $457.4 million was $8.2 million below estimate. Year-to-date corporation tax collections total $588.9 million, which is $10 million, or 1.7 percent, below estimate.
Inheritance tax revenue for the month was $70.8 million, $3 million above estimate, bringing the year-to-date total to $213.6 million, which is $200,000, or 0.1 percent, below estimate.
Realty transfer tax revenue was $35.2 million for September, $6.3 million above estimate, bringing the fiscal-year total to $112 million, which is $6.2 million, or 5.9 percent, more than anticipated.
Other General Fund tax revenue, including cigarette, malt beverage, liquor and table games taxes, totaled $125.1 million for the month, $2.6 million below estimate and bringing the year-to-date total to $357.9 million, which is $2.4 million, or 0.7 percent, below estimate.
Non-tax revenue totaled $22.8 million for the month, $9.2 million above estimate, bringing the year-to-date total to $51 million, which is $4.4 million, or 8 percent, below estimate.
In addition to the General Fund collections, the Motor License Fund received $182.3 million for the month, $4.9 million below estimate. Fiscal year-to-date collections for the fund – which include the commonly known gas and diesel taxes, as well as other license, fine and fee revenues – total $603 million, which is $16.4 million, or 2.7 percent, below estimate.
