Paid Video & Film Production Produces Live Music DVD for Juno Award Winning Singer/Songwriter Derek Miller
Paid Inc.’s award-winning Video and Film Production division (OTCBB:PAYD) (http://www.paidvfp.com/index.htm) recently completed filming and production with two-time Juno award-winning Canadian recording artist DEREK MILLER (http://www.myspace.com/derekmillermusic) to create a full length concert DVD entitled DEREK MILLER LIVE. The DVD, which was shot at a Toronto-area club is expected to be available in October at Derek Miller’s live concerts. The DVD is scheduled for release in early 2009 via Arbor Records, an EMI affiliate, and will be available via his MySpace page, http://www.myspace.com/derekmillermusic.
"In producing "Derek Miller Live,” we set out to capture the up-close experience of Derek’s music live in the intimate venues that he currently plays,” said Keith Garde, President of Paid celebrity services and head of Paid Video & Film Production. "We’re delivering a raw, honest experience of being in this dark, gritty night club and having your socks blown off by Derek’s sheer talent and the soulfulness and depth of his music.”
Miller selected Paid VFP because of its quality of work, breadth of experience and flexibility. Paid VFP’s staff has played key roles in projects that have garnered for its clients the highest level of industry awards, including Grammys, American Music Awards, People’s Choice Awards, Billboard awards and Emmys. Keith Garde was executive in charge of production for Darryl "DMC” McDaniels in the VH1 rock documentary "DMC: My Adoption Journey,” which received an Emmy in 2008 and for Aerosmith’s Emmy Award-winning "You Gotta Mossve” DVD. Paid VFP Director Casey Patrick Tebo recently served as live video director on Aerosmith’s last U.S. and world tours that covered the United Arab Emirates, India, South America and Europe. Tebo served double duty, following the band with cameras documentary style, and directed their high-energy performances for in-stadium high-definition broadcast every night. Tebo and Garde are a seasoned creative team having collaborated on multiple high profile projects including the opening video for ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC Sport’s NASCAR Busch Series telecasts throughout 2007 which featured Aerosmith.
"Paid VFP has done projects from the largest Emmy award winning productions with rock superstars to intimate projects such as Derek’s DVD,” Garde noted. "Our in-house post production editing suites and depth of experience enable us to deliver superior quality productions on time and within a reasonable budget.”
Paid VFP staff did the taping, pre-production, post-production and authoring of the Derek Miller Live DVD. Tebo directed the shoot and directed and edited the DVD. Garde produced the shoot and collaborated with Tebo in the post-production, creative decision making process.
The DEREK MILLER LIVE project provided a precious opportunity to document Derek’s on-stage presence at a time when his career is visibly picking up speed. Soon he will go on to play for much larger crowds on far less intimate concert stages. The relationship between Miller and Paid is expected to expand as Derek’s career takes off and may include online branding, future video projects and additional celebrity services.
"Paid’s team did a really great job on the production to capture the energy and adrenalin of a club performance,” commented Miller. "We’re expecting good things to happen as a result of our first business venture with them and we’re looking at using some of Paid’s other services for the future.”
Born on the Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve, in the Mohawk Territory of Ontario, Canada in 1974, Derek discovered the guitar at age 13 and developed into an incredibly talented singer, songwriter and musician with his own unique blues-based rock and roll sound. Since his debut in 2002, Miller has released three albums on Inspire Records, Arbor Records and EMI which have won two Juno Awards, a Canadian Aboriginal Music Award, a Native American Music Award, an NCI-FM "Best Album of the Year," and other U.S. and Canadian awards.
Early this year Miller recorded a new "rock/blues/gospel tinged” album in Austin, TX, backed by the late Stevie Ray Vaughan's band DOUBLE TROUBLE, and joined for one track by none other than WILLIE NELSON on vocals and guitar. The as-yet untitled album is due to be released in late 2008 or early 2009. Miller is also set to return to the recording studio in early 2009, this time back home in Six Nations, Ontario at the new $2 million on-reserve recording studio built by private investors for him and other emerging artists at Six Nations. Derek continues to tour across North America and Europe in support of his albums. Upcoming concert dates and a sampling of his music can be found on www.myspace.com/derekmillermusic.
