PA Powerball Jackpot Grows to $425 Million for Aug. 7 Drawing

MIDDLETOWN, Pa., Aug. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Thanks to continued strong ticket sales, the Powerball® jackpot today was increased to a $425 million annuity value, or a $244.7 million cash prize, for the Wednesday, Aug. 7, drawing.

The jackpot had rolled to a $400 million annuity value, or $230.3 million cash prize, after the drawing on Saturday, Aug. 3, produced no jackpot winner.

For the Aug. 3 drawing, one winning Powerball ticket worth $1 million was sold in Langhorne, Bucks County, and more than 124,900 other Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball tickets won prizes of up to $40,000.

Tickets for the next Powerball drawing will be available until 9:59 p.m. Wednesday evening. The Pennsylvania Lottery advises players to purchase their Powerball tickets early to avoid any last-minute rush and to always play responsibly.

How to play Powerball: Players pay $2 and select five white balls from the first set of 59 numbers plus a single red ball, the Powerball, from a second set of 35 numbers. Players may select their own numbers using a Powerball playslip, or they may opt for computer-selected quick picks. Players must match all five numbers drawn plus the Powerball number to win the jackpot. There also are eight additional ways for players to win a cash prize.

Powerball tickets are sold in 43 states, Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
